Financial Aid Night 

Financial Aid Matters!

Are you a parent or guardian of a Senior planning to attend college or technical school?  It is very important to plan for this expense.  The average cost of attending a state supported college or technical school can exceed $12,000 per year.  Private college and university costs can exceed $50,000 per year. There will be a Financial Aid workshop here at E.E. Smith High School on Thursday, October 20th in the Auditorium at 6:30 pm   Seniors and their parents are invited to attend.  During the workshop you will learn about grants, scholarship tips, fee waivers, FAFSA updates, and more.   The early bird catches the worm!  It is time to start planning now!

All parents, students, and teachers are invited to the School Improvement Meeting October 10th at 3:30 pm.  The meeting is usually held in Room A15.

A Senior Parent Meeting will be held in the Auditorium at 6:00 pm. A representative from Jostens will be in the Media Center Atrium from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm for Junior and Senior class orders for class rings and graduation products.

Today one of the essential rights of citizens is the right to vote!

Did you know that the Constitution mentions the right to vote five times? Are you 18 years old by November 8th? Are you registered to Vote?   Voter Registration ends October 14th.  Your registration form must be postmarked by this date in order to participate in the Fall Election.  Please stop by the Media Center and pick up a form and register to vote if you have not done so.  There is a bulletin board in the Media Center that lists candidates for National and State Offices.  Read about our local, state, and national issues. Newspapers will be available in the Media Center for you to read.   Watch the debates.  Talk to your parents, guardians and other informed adults. Get informed. get involved, and vote accordingly.

Reading Rocks!  Walk-A-Thon!  

Needed Walkers!  Participate in the Cumberland County Schools Walk-A-Thon on October 15th.  Deadline for donations is Monday, October 10th at 9 a.m.  The purpose of this Walk is to raise money for books and learning tools for our school, and to raise public awareness of our literacy initiatives.  Gates open at 8:00 a.m.  The ceremony begins at 8:30 followed with the walk around 9:00 a.m.
