Rising 9th-12th-grade students who demonstrate an interest in STEM and has at least an “A/B” average in Math/Science.  The dates are June 18-July 13, 2018.

UNITE is a four week, pre-collegiate summer experience for talented high school students from groups historically underserved in STEM.  Held at higher education institutions across the country, UNITE encourages students to pursue college majors and careers in engineering and other STEM-related fields through a program of focused hands-on rigorous academics, enrichment, and career exploration.  To be considered, students must apply on the national website,  https://www.usaeop.com/program/unite/

The Cumberland County Association of Principals and Assistant Principals (CCAPAP) is proud to be able to present scholarships to qualifying Cumberland County Schools (CCS) high school seniors to help them defray the cost of higher education.  Complete applications must be received at Stoney Point Elementary by 4:00 p.m. April 19th. The application is attached.

To be considered eligible for this scholarship, students must:

  • be a 2017-2018 Cumberland County Schools’ high school senior.
  • maintain a minimum weighted 2.5 GPA.
  • complete the essay portion of the scholarship as directed.
  • include an official transcript with the application.
  • include a current report card with the application.
  • turn the completed packet in by the scholarship deadline, April 19th.

Scholarships will be awarded to one recipient from each comprehensive high school and one, collectively, from all non-comprehensive high schools in Cumberland County.  The amount of each scholarship will be determined by the amount of funds generated at CACPAP’s annual fundraiser.  CCAPAP’s goal is to raise sufficient funds to award recipients a $1,000.00 scholarship.  Scholarship recipients will be notified in June and all applicants will be notified regarding the outcome of the scholarship process.  For more information please click on this link,  CCAPAPscholarship2018 (1)

The 100 Academy of E. E. Smith High School invites all students to join us at our 1 st Annual Youth Empowerment Conference on Saturday April 21, 2018 from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM at E.E. Smith High School.  This conference is sponsored by 100 Black Men of America Inc., Cape Fear Region Chapter in partnership with E. E. Smith High School.  Refreshments and lunch will be provided. 

Concurrent sessions on topics such as  Healthy Living, Educational Enrichment, Attitude, Leadership Development, Peer Mentoring and Economic Empowerment will be facilitated by experts.  Registration is free.  Seats are limited. Are you interested in teaching? Recently, the Board of Education approved the Superintendent’s recommendation to form a CCS Future Educators Program.  The CCS Future Educators Program is a recruitment initiative aimed at developing CCS’ internal student talent. Firefighters from the CCS Fire Academy competed in the Regional Skills USA competition Friday March 2, 2018. Five academies were represented, our students did an outstanding job and represented us well.  Congratulations for a job well done.
