It’s Coming Home Week!

Tuesday, February 9, 2016

ACT Workkeys Testing will begin at 8:30 am in Room B19 for Senior CTE Concentrators.

The Princeton ACT Review Session will be held at 9:00 am – 11:30 am for 11th grade males and 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm for 11th grade females in the Media Center.

Naviyea Adams will speak at the CCS Board of Education Meeting at 6:30 pm.

Wednesday, February 10, 2016

A representative from Duke Energy will meet with Juniors and Seniors interested in a career with Duke Energy upon graduation.

Thursday, February 11, 2016

12th Graders will assemble in the Auditorium at 8:30 am for a class photo for the yearbook.

Excellence Day will be held at 2:00 pm in the Auditorium to recognize student achievement during the 1st semester.

Friday, February 12, 2016

Rising 9th graders from our feeder middle schools will visit campus from 9:00 am to 11:30 am.

The Coming Home Week Pep Rally will be held from 2:45 pm to 3:30 pm in the Main Gym.

ctemonthFebruary is Career Technical Education (CTE Month)!!!  The national theme for CTE Month is Opportunities for Career Success.  Career Technical Education (CTE) provides students of all ages with the academic and technical skills, knowledge and training necessary to succeed in future careers and to become lifelong learners   E. E. Smith High School’s CTE Department have planned various activities to celebrate CTE Month. Some of the activities include guest speakers, snack tasting, demonstrations, lunch for staff members and themed days.

CDM-NCDPI-300x300The Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM) process allows current middle and  high school students to demonstrate mastery of a course’s content, getting credit and a pass/fail grade for the course by taking an assessment and completing an artifact.

*Only applies to certain courses at middle school. Any parents or students who are interested in CDM should complete the CDM application and return it to the AIG Consultant at their school no later than January 25, 2016.

NewsOn last Wednesday, Ms. Chalmers, Col. Thom Glockzin and students of the AFJROTC-34 participated in the grand opening of the new Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market on Murchison Rd. At that same time we were presented with a check for the Wal-Mart Community Grant in the amount of $1,600.00. We want to give a huge thank you to Mrs. Lanetta McNeil for applying for the grant on our behalf. Please see the pictures below.
