The E. E. Smith 100 Academy mentoring program proudly presents its 2nd Annual Youth
Empowerment Conference on Saturday, March 9, 2019. The Conference will be held at E. E. Smith High
School.

Who will replace the leaders of today? What are the characteristics of a successful person,
leader or citizen? Join the 100 Academy for a day of meaningful activities and interactive discussions
that will be sure to help you unleash the Leader within You! Someone must replace our present Leaders
in our schools, community, government and even our Country.

The Conference will focus on several topics that will help one to be a winner at, Education Enrichment, Leadership, Economic
Empowerment, Healthy Life Style, Positive Attitudes and Mentoring Others. Participants will have the
opportunity to interact and engage with presenters who are current leaders and experts in Cumberland
County and surrounding areas. Register now and feel the explosion of the leader within you. The
Conference is designed to Prepare You to Be Leaders of The Future.

“Remember: “If in your mind you can Conceive it and, in your heart, you truly Believe it, then you will,
you can, you shall Achieve it”. 

Free breakfast, lunch, and t-shirt will be provided to all participants.

E. E. Smith was well represented by her students at the conference swim meet, Wednesday, January 23, 2019.

Naqwuan Hester made a strong showing in 50 and 100 free, but Sarah Morden stole the show.  She shared the Award for “Most Valuable Swimmer.”

E. E. Smith tied for first in points earned in the season.   In addition, our Swim Team placed in several events.  Notably we won First Place in 100 freestyle  and First Place in 100 breaststroke.

E. E. Smith was also selected to win the prestigious coaches award for our region.

Preparing for the ACT is mission possible!

  1.  The ACT is given to N.C. at no cost.  So it is free!
  2.  Many technical schools, colleges, and universities use the scores to determine who will receive scholarships.
  3. Colleges use ACT scores to determine who is admitted.

Varsity and Junior Varsity Basketball Teams will visit 

All  Basketball Games will be held AT Southview High School on Friday, February 01, 2019.

 

Junior Varsity Boy’s game will tip-off 4:30 p.m., and the Varsity Team will tip off in 7:30 p.m.

Varsity Girl’s game will tip-off 6:00 p.m. 

Varsity Tickets are $7.00.  Junior Varsity Tickets are $6.00.

Everyone is invited to the Holiday Classic.  The Games will be held December 20th – December 22, 2018 in the Main Gym. The brackets of the classic will be the Len Maness Boys bracket at Terry Sanford, Ike Walker Bracket at 71st, Tom Jackson bracket at Douglas Byrd, and the Gene Arrington Bracket of the Classic will be at E.E Smith High School. The championship game will be at Fayetteville State University. Faculty badges will not be accepted for free entry into the classic.

One day tickets will not be pre-sold. They are for purchase at the site you are wishing to view a game only. One day tickets are $10 and can be used to see all four games at the site in which they were purchased. They cannot be used for multiple sites in one day. The cost for a three-day ticket sold online through GOFAN is $25.00 plus $2.00 surcharge.  This ticket is good for multiple sites in a day.  The ticket is non-transferable.The only passes accepted are NCHSAA, Coaches, and officials passes.  Purchase tickets at  the GOFAN Link, https://gofan.co/app/school/NC67770.

CCS’ students and staff will observe a winter break from December 21st through January 4th.  The Main Gym will only be open during the Holiday Classic, December 20th – 22nd.  However, the main building, administrative, and teaching staff of E. E. Smith High will not be available during the break.  School will resume January 7, 2019.  Happy Holidays!

We wish to congratulate Ms. Tammy West, the Manager of the E. E. Smith Cafeteria and her staff.  They have made a Sanitation Grade of 100% for the 3rd consecutive year.  The food in the Cafeteria is not only tasty, but safe!  We, the staff and students of E. E. Smith High School  want to express our gratitude for the excellent food and service.  Thank-you!

Congratulations to Mr. Roosevelt Pratt, our Band Master!  He has received a very prestigious award.  Text of the Award is printed below.
