Cumberland County Schools Fire Academy

  • Offers a challenging program of study for students interested in a career in the Fire Service
  • Offers college level classes leading to an Associate degree or Baccalaureate degree through Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) and Fayetteville State University (FSU)
  • Features a unique partnership between Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC), Fayetteville State University (FSU), North Carolina State University (NCSU), The City of Fayetteville Fire Department, and E.E. Smith High School
  • Offers training at the Fayetteville Fire Station on the campus of Fayetteville State University (FSU)

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Interested in a career in Fire Service
  • Faculty recommendations
  • 2.5 GPA

Cumberland County Schools Academy of Math and Science

  • Provides specialized science and math courses
  • Features mathematical principles applied through advanced problem solving
  • Provides increased access to technology-based resources to enhance math and science instruction
  • Supports educational field studies and required community service projects
  • Fosters partnerships formed with the Community Advisory Council as well as collaboration with Fayetteville State University (FSU) and Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC)
  • Provides the opportunity to earn transferable college credit hours in such courses as Calculus, Statistics, Cellular Biology, or Zoology, depending on whether the student wishes to concentrate in Mathematics, Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, Programming Methodology, or Biotechnology

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Interest in a math/science-related career path
  • Minimum a 3.0 overall GPA with no grades lower than a “B” in math and science courses
  • Faculty recommendations encouraged
